An emerging area of practice
Before + After
In Her Choosing™ is exploring what choosing can mean on both sides of relationship violence: before harm — and after survival.
Before, there are questions of relationship, agency, intimacy, boundaries, access, and what we understand about ourselves as we choose connection.
After, another set of questions can emerge:
“What happens when safety has been established, but you are still learning how to live freely again?”
This emerging work is particularly interested in what comes after survival — the reclamation of agency, identity, relationship, intimacy, pleasure, joy, and possibility.
Because surviving matters.
And so does living well.
This work is being developed in conversation with the broader domestic violence continuum and is intended to complement — not replace — advocacy, crisis intervention, clinical care, or specialized domestic violence services.
For organizations + potential partners
In Her Choosing™ welcomes thoughtful conversations with organizations, practitioners, researchers, and community partners whose work intersects with these questions.
